I have never had a public facing website before, and honestly I never post anything anywhere. I am very adept at lurking, doomscrolling and soaking up information in general.
That is why this is a learning exercise of expression and writing in this quiet corner of the internet.
Who am I?#
Living in western Europe in a medium sized town, working a 9 to 5 job. I have a partner and 2 young children and work in civil service at an IT department where I work on various projects and policy.
In my free time I love to play video games, travel, watch movies/shows and I love to tinker with my homeserver, hosting various applications for me and my family.
I also read the news, writing this now in 2026 geopolitics is crazy and there is a lot of worry about possible wars, economic hardship, climate change, dependence and influence from (or through) big tech.
While most of us can do little to prevent war, economic downturn or climate change, we do have a choice of what we spend our time and money on.
What am I intending to write about?#
I have a couple of interests, and there is a lot of information about it already. So this is not going to be a newsfeed, I’m going to challenge myself to write some articles with sources about things like privacy, self hosting and digital sovereignty. We’ll see how it goes and learn along the way!
